Tokachi-dake Hot Spring Resort 20 km from JR Kamifurano Station can be reached by driving east on Prefectural Highway 291 and going up a winding mountain path. This hot spring resort, which has three hot spring facilities and is dotted with natural open-air baths is also a base for climbing Mt. Tokachi-dake and Mt. Furano-dake. Being on a high land more than 1,280 m in altitude, it is known as the hot spring resort where autumn leaves can be enjoyed the earliest in Japan. The Fukiage Onsen used for the TV drama “Kita no Kuni Kara” is a free open-air bath for mixed bathing.
